Alongside the successful launch of the GrowFrame 360, British agricultural technology company Innovation Agri-Tech Group (IAG) has appointed a new Plant Scientist and Molecular Biologist. Deepa Manikkath Haridas and Felix Trimmer have joined IAG as Lead Plant Scientist and Molecular Biologist, respectively.
Deepa received her Ph.D. in September and having previously worked in an industrial and academic environment, she is a research professional with over eight years’ experience in agricultural research. With a focus on understanding plant-microbe interactions. and how these interactions can maximize crop productivity in sustainable agriculture, Deepa’s specialist areas include agriculture, crop physiology, microbiology, molecular biology and data analysis.
Revolutionising Crop Production
Commenting on her appointment, Deepa says:
“The next generation of crops cultivated indoors will require in-depth research at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and plant science. Vertical farming technology is an ideal and realistic choice for supporting sustainable agriculture in the expanding food market. I am excited to join the IAG team and to further explore the research opportunities that vertical farming provides to support its expansion.”
A New Banking Landscape
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, cash use is down by 40 per cent – and is still falling.”
He went on to add:
“We have five to ten years to fix digital payments before cash becomes unworkable, and need to start planning how to get the new system working for all.”
Crucial Plant Science
Also joining the team alongside Deepa, Molecular Biologist, Felix will become part of the crucial plant science section at IAG. Holding a BSc in Molecular Biology, Felix demonstrates a keen interest in combining both technology and natural approaches. Collaborating to develop ground-breaking solutions, Felix will support IAG as they continue to push farming boundaries and prove the efficiency of their growing technology.
The GrowFrame 360 eradicates waste, is fully automated and managed from a human machine interface (HMI) with real-time data monitoring. Using coco peat over soil means eliminating chemicals, pesticides and soil maintenance. Offering a drought-resistant solution, the GrowFrame 360 is ideal for countries with minimal water supply, as well as in urban areas with limited space. Ultimately, this will combine to help tackle the challenges surrounding world hunger and malnutrition.
